Foundations of Fertility

A NATUROPATHIC AND TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE GUIDE TO PRECONCEPTION HEALTH

About The Course

You want to start preparing your body for pregnancy but you’re not sure where to begin.
Should you be taking certain supplements? Is there a fertility diet that’s actually backed by research? Could there be underlying health factors affecting your ability to conceive?

This course was created to help you answer those questions with confidence and empower you to take your next steps in preconception.

Why I Created This Course

As a naturopathic doctor, I often find that people want to understand their fertility before trying to conceive and take action but don’t know where to start.

When I was trying to conceive, I felt deeply grateful to have the knowledge I have as a naturopath to navigate the process with confidence and ease. I believe everyone deserves access to this kind of insight.

This course brings together what I typically teach across two to three naturopathic visits, condensed into one accessible, self-paced program. It offers a clear, research-informed foundation in both Western naturopathic medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) providing a well-rounded understanding of the many factors that influence reproductive health.

What You’ll Learn

Across five guided modules, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of:

  • The key factors that influence fertility and how to interpret the signs your body is giving you.

  • Relevant lab tests to consider before conception and what they can reveal about your health.

  • The dietary patterns and key nutrients shown to support fertility and hormonal balance.

  • How supplementation fits into preconception care, including which nutrients matter most.

  • The lifestyle and stress-management factors that create a fertile foundation for conception.

Each section weaves together evidence-based research and traditional wisdom, offering tools to help you make informed, confident choices about your fertility and overall wellbeing.

  • Yes, while the focus is primarily on supporting the person who will be carrying the pregnancy, we also touch on key aspects of male fertility and overall reproductive health—since both sides play an important role in conception.

  • Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic system of medicine that has been practiced for thousands of years. It’s based on the understanding that health depends on the balance and flow of energy, or Qi, throughout the body.

In the context of fertility and preconception, TCM looks at how factors like blood flow, temperature, stress, and digestion influence reproductive health. Concepts such as Jing (our foundational energy or essence), Qi (vital energy), and Yin and Yang (balance and harmony) are used to describe how the body functions as a whole.

In this course, I use TCM concepts to complement the Western naturopathic perspective—offering a more complete picture of fertility and overall wellbeing. This allows you to understand your health through both modern research and traditional wisdom that has guided people for generations.

  • No prior experience or background in health is needed! The course is designed to be clear and approachable for anyone. You’ll come away with a solid understanding of how fertility works and what factors you can start paying attention to in your own health.
